When I first visited Bangkok I couldn’t wait to leave the place, there was nothing I really liked about the place. However, that was when I was visiting as a backpacker and gave no time to explore the capital city of Thailand.
As time went on I visited Bangkok more and more because I had friends living there. Paul Hurdsfield was on of those friends, it was him and others who opened my eyes to just how good Bangkok is.
So after Paul Hurdsfield and friends showed me everything this great city has to offer I decided to make Bangkok my home. I have loved it ever since and it would take a special city or job to make me move on from here. Why is it brilliant I hear you ask? Well, here are 3 reasons why Bangkok living is brilliant.
Accommodation
I would say that the quality of accommodation for the price you pay is one of the biggest reasons for living in Bangkok. How much do you think it costs for a 35sqm , 1 bedroom apartment, with a communal swimming pool, gym, sauna, library, 24 hour security guards and more? If that was in London it would easily cost thousands of pounds each month. In Bangkok that is costing me 250 pounds a month – yes, that’s not a typo 250!
Weekend Trips
Even though I do love living in Bangkok, it is still a major city which can get very busy so every now and then I need to take a break, escape the hustle and bustle for a while. This is where Bangkok is awesome, you’re only 90 minutes away by car to the nearest beach, 3 hours to the nearest island and more. Also, flights are very cheap so it is easy to fly down to the heaven like beaches in the south for a long weekend. There aren’t many other cities that offer such a diverse range of things to do.
The Nightlife
Bangkok is famous for its nightlife. I’m not talking about the seedy part of town that some tourists always talk about. The city has some really classy bars and clubs which would rival any in the world – for those that don’t know, there’s a lot of money in Bangkok. It’s not all about the drinking though, the night markets are awesome and brilliant for strolling around, buying a few things, people watching and of course over indulging in street food.
